Conheça nosso compositor e Diretor Musical Nile Bernardes
Nil Bernardes is a paulistano who at the age of three was already humming to his father’s saxophone. His first stage experience was at the club Lapeaninho, in the neighborhood of Lapa in São Paulo, where at the age of four he won a freshman contest. He had a childhood like every child on the periphery. The naked on the dirt street, flying a kite and singing were part of his daily life. The school festivals were almost always won by him, since at twelve he already composed and dreamed of being a famous artist. His first musical group was called Jovens Atuais, formed by Nil, Luizinho, Toninho, Zé Oscar (Pixilinga).
He worked as an office boy and also at Banco Bamerindus. He was preparing to attend the first year of Communications at FIAM when he met Antonio Luiz (Tic-Tic), a childhood friend who sang at night and invited him to go to a nightclub to see him sing. Two days later, Nil came over and gave a ‘soup’. The owner of the house was impressed and invited him to sing professionally. A week later, he closed his enrollment at the College, resigned at the Bank and went to sing at night.
Soon after, he met Marco Silvestre who introduced him to Terry Winter, who was in need of a bass player in his band. Nil joined the Terry group and traveled to several states and countries, performing as a bass player and vocalist. A 15-year musical partnership was born. His first disc experience was a special appearance on a Terry compact by New Records Copacabana, in 1980, under the pen name Neil Bernard. Together they composed more than 100 songs. Some successes of this partnership were Look at me, Once more a fool, Prodigal Son, Mother of Milk, Dream of a Trucker and Tribute to a Trucker, the latter led the Copacabana label to invite him to record an album in 1983.
Hired by the then artistic director Luiz Mocarzel, he recorded two compacts for Copacabana – A Menina do Banco (Nil Bernardes / Paulo Ricardo / João Bravo), Por Você Ficado Pirado (Nil Bernardes / João Bravo / Moskemberg) and Lembra Eu Te Amo (Vers. Juvenal de Oliveira) and Something Strange and Crazy (Nil Bernardes / Terry Winter). Luiz Mocarzel and Juvenal de Oliveira were great supporters of his career.
In 1983, he met the businessman Orival Pessini – creator of the Fofão doll – through businessman Paulo Ricardo Cunha, with whom he would make a musical and work partnership, culminating with presentations at the shows of Turma do Balão Mágico and Fofão and later in the shows of Fofão and TV Cute.
In 1989 he released an LP on the label Esfinge. In 1992 he won the 2nd Rímula Festival of Regional Music with the song Sinfonia Sertaneja (Nil Bernardes / Chico Valente), also winning the award for best interpreter. In 1993 he would record for San Francisco an LP whose success was the song Raio de Sol.
In 1995, together with Luiz Schiavon and Marcelo Barbosa, he worked on the musical project of the soap opera O Rei do Gado culminating in the formation of the group Orquestra da Terra, interpreter of the opening theme of the soap opera that was aired in 1996 by Rede Globo de Televisão.
In 1998, he released a CD with songs turned to the country movement by the RDS label, through the great music producer Manoel Barenbein, having on one of the tracks the song Sonho de Peão, a musical partnership with the sports journalist Juarez Soares. His author’s curriculum includes themes in soap operas such as O Rei do Gado (Overture), Esperança (Overture), Cabocla (Overture), Sinhá Moça and Paraíso.
As a composer he has songs recorded by national and international artists. As a record producer and co-producer he worked with Leonardo, Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano, Bruno & Marrone, As Marcianas, Fofão, Donizetti, Gian & Giovani, Frank Aguiar, Joanna, Harmonia do Samba, Cézar & Paulinho, Terry Winter, Roberta Miranda, Christian & Ralf, Antonio Fagundes, among others. Latin Grammy winner of 2004 as producer of Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano (Best Romantic album).
Acting in the area of voice acting as a director, voice actor and musical adapter, he has done works such as “Barney, The Dinosaur”, “Pokémon”, “Hi Five”, “Digimon”, “Ninja Turtles”, “Baby Lilly”, “Zooboo Mafoo”, “Seemore”, “Peppa Pig”, “Vila Sézamo”, and much more.
He was a member of ‘Banda Domingão’ in the Sunday of Faustão. Nil Bernardes seeks to reconcile the functions of singer, musician, composer, producer, voice actor in the best possible way.
